Tour Guide Position

Calistoga Ghost Tours LLC is looking for a professional, customer-oriented tour guide that has experience with storytelling and public speaking. Calistoga Ghost Tours is a walking tour in downtown Calistoga. Tour route is a little over 1 mile-long route through the older Calistoga neighborhood around Pioneer Park and parts of downtown Calistoga. The tour is about 1 ½ hours. The ideal candidate would be able to lead a group of people along a tour, memorize a script that describes stops and ghost stories along the way, and engage in storytelling in an entertaining way. Dramatic and public speaking experience a must.

Key Responsibilities:
-Lead a small group of patrons along a walking tour along the streets of Calistoga in a safe manner.
-Explain history and tell ghost stories about the stops along the tour.
-Engage with patrons in an entertaining and informative way.
-Answer questions on the town’s history when needed and with your own knowledge.
-Collect walk-up ticket sales with digital means, ie cell phone.

Qualifications and Skills:
-Memorize history and ghost stories of Calistoga from a pre-written script.
-Have public speaking experience.
-Be able to lead a group and look out for the safety of the group while on the tour, ie mindful crossing of streets. Keep volume down in housing areas.
-Be able to conduct sales from a phone app and use Square. (This skill can be taught as well.)
-Conduct oneself in a professional manner while on the tour and be courteous to patrons and the general public.
-Dress Code: Victorian or vintage dress attire. A t-shirt is provided. This is negotiable in what candidate might already own. Comfortable shoes will be needed.

 
This position requires a few hours of work on Tour Nights, Friday or Saturday, from 6:30pm until 8:30pm. 
It's a great position for educators to work after hours of school. Or for retired educators.
